The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has fixed July 22 to July 27 for trial at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna ahead of the African games.

Okon, who alongside Nnabukwo Gbaruko, Shedrach Akpeki and Jeremiah Nathaniel won bronze at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, said that he had been training hard.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria that he was optimistic that with resilience, hard work and prayer, he would make the team that would be called to camp by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

“My target is to make the team, I know that by God’s grace I will make the team because I am working towards it.

“I hope and pray that I run a good time before and during the trials,”he said.

He expressed optimism of winning a medal at the 12th African Games, saying that he would not disappoint the country.

“It was every athletes’ dream to bring honour to his country,”he said.
