Both Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino are set to miss the second leg of Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on Tuesday.
The Egypt international suffered a head injury in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Newcastle and Firmino is struggling with a groin injury.

Salah’s head Injury

Hosting Barcelona, manager Jurgen Klopp said at his pre-Barca press conference that Salah would not make the Anfield clash and that the decision had been taken on medical grounds and was out of his control.

He said:
“It’s not a precaution, it’s a concussion.
“He would not even be allowed to play, so that’s it.He feels ok but it’s not good enough from a medical point of view, that’s all.
“He’s desperate, everything, but we cannot do it. He can play at the weekend.”

Turning the game around against Barca wouldn’t be easy and Klopp knows the loss of two of his most powerful weapons does not help the cause.

“There’s hope and that’s football. We are far away from giving up.
“Two of the world’s best strikers are not available tomorrow. it doesn’t make life any easier but while we have 11 players on the pitch we will try,” Klopp added.

Salah’s strike on Saturday evening in the 3-2 defeat of Newcastle was his 26th goal of the season and the leading scorer in the Premier League.
