NLC begins nationwide protest

The Nigeria Labour Congress on Monday started a nationwide protest over the leadership struggle at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) board.

The union is protesting over the minister’s unwillingness to inaugurate Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) board.

According to Premium Times, the nationwide protest, which began 9 am, started from the Labour house.
President Buhari, had on Sunday approved the decisions of the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, on the matter. It said the board would be inaugurated on Monday.

Speaking at the protest, the President of NLC, Ayuba Wabba, said the union are protesting the attack on Nigerian workers during a protest to his house.

“Members of International Labour Congress in Geneva will be protesting against Ngige on June 18,” he said.
