Alhaji Zakari Abubakar, the state’s Commissioner for Finance, made the disclosure at a news conference in Minna on Tuesday.
He explained that the state’s Executive Council had in 2016, approved for the state government to access over 200 million dollars for the project.
Abubakar said the Federal Government passed the request to the National Assembly through the Federal Ministry of Finance following the approval of Federal Executive Council.
According to him, a consultant, the ED Multi Consult Design Ltd., was engaged to make arrangements for the dualisation of the existing carriage way of 164 kilometers.
The commissioner disclosed that the project will be handled by Niger Stat Pet Project Ltd.
He explained that the road would be reconstructed with two toll plazas that would have parking facilities for trucks, shopping complex, facilities for police and Federal Road Safety Corps as well as medical services.
The commissioner said that the project when completed, would charge N200 per car as toll fees, N200 for medium trucks, N700 for heavy trucks and N1,000 for articulated vehicles.
He added that the project’s life span was twenty five years.
Abubakar said the project would go a long way to help reduce accident, ease transportation of goods and services and increase the state revenue.
