More anxiety for candidates, parents as JAMB releases results

The long wait is over for the about 1.8 million candidates who sat for the 2019 edition of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination as the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has released the results.
Although JAMB has yet to give details, it said the results were officially out, with the Board’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirming this.
But experience shows that the release of the results is the beginning of another expansive problem for many candidates and their parents – as well as other stakeholders.
For one, they are being confronted with the reality that all the universities in the country will not admit up to half of the candidates, with many also annually left with the option of having to retake the exam even after other higher institutions might have absorbed their capacities.
Besides, it is not yet clear whether the results have been wholly released or if they are coming in batches.
