Uzakah Timi Ebiweni, a medical student of the Niger Delta University, was said to have plunged into the Amassona River after failing an exam.
has allegedly committed suicide by plunging into a river because he failed his MBBS.
Reports said it was the all-important second MBBS exam where he and other 49 students failed, out of the 169 that took the exam.
Uzakah’s case came after a student of the the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Chukwuemeka Akachi, killed himself, among several other related incidents among Nigerian youths, which has become a source of worry to many.
Only on Monday, the Parent-Teacher Association of Nigeria expressed worry and advised teachers and parents to be vigilant.
Many stakeholders are, however, unsettled about what they perceive as the silence of government institutions over the suicide syndrome.
They particularly accuse the National Orientation Agency to be indolent and unresponsive at a time it ought to mount serious campaign against suicide.
