Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has urged his main opponent in last year’s election, Prof. Olusola Elena, to play down partisan politics but join what he called the Ekiti Party.
Fayemi made the call after the Supreme Court affirmed his election on Friday.
Eleka, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, had challenged the result of the poll at the tribunal up to the apex court level.
But the justices unanimously upheld Fayemi’s victory, thus foreclosing any other judicial battle on the matter.
Fayemi said that it was time for Elenka to see how he could continue to be relevant in the scheme to move Ekiti forward.
According to him, the best thing now is to play down partisan interest, but identify with the Ekiti people and those ready to offer it the best it deserved.
Since last year, Fayemi’s victory had been the subject of contest in various courts, especially as a leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state, Dr Segun Oni
The bench, however, have him victory at every stage.
His triumph has also ben boosted by his emergence as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum.
