A Sharia Court l siting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, on Thursday sentenced a local barber Harisu Wanzam, 45, to six months in prison beating up and humiliating his wife.
The Judge, Musa Sa’ad-Goma, sentenced Wanzam, after he pleaded guilty to assault.
The judge, however, gave the defendant an option to pay a fine of N10,000.
Sa’ad-Goma also ordered Wanzam, who lives in Giwa LG, Kaduna State to pay N20,000 in compensation toher.
Wanzam pleaded for leniency.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the police counsel, Sgt Aliyu Ibrahim, brought witnesses to testify the charges against the defendant on April 17.
Ibrahim, told the court that Wanzam on March 29, assaulted his wife on Jos Road, by Lagos Street, Kaduna, when she went to deliver dry cleaned clothes to her clients.
The convict accused his wife of flirting with men.
