The Porto goalkeeper felt pain in his chest during a training session on Wednesday and was rushed to hospital.
Casillas underwent surgery however he is now in a stable condition.
The footballing world has reacted to the news, with many people associated with the game showing their support for the Real Madrid legend.
Casillas, former team Real Madrid released a statement reading:
“[The club]want to see their eternal captain recovered as soon as possible and send him all the courage of the world.”

While Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal tweeted: “A huge hug to Iker Casillas right now. Iker Force!”
Arsenal star,Mesut Ozil played alongside Casillas at Real Madrid. He tweeted: “Best wishes to Porto! Hope all is going well. Get well soon Iker Casillas.”
Gareth Bale also played with Casillas at Real Madrid, he added: “Get well soon my friend.”
Manchester United youngster, Diogo Dalot played alongside Casillas at Porto. He wrote: “Stay strong. Will be all right.”
Barcelona legend, Carlos Puyol won a World Cup with Casillas in 2014. On Twitter, the defender said: “A lot of strength friend!”
Gerard Pique was also part of that World Cup winning team. He wrote: “A lot of strength Iker Casillas, recover soon friend!”
A number of clubs have also showed their support for the shot-stopper with Barcelona’s official
account tweeting: “Stay strong, Iker Casillas! Our best wishes for a quick and complete recovery”
Liverpool’s Twitter page added: “Everyone at LFC wishes Iker Casillas a speedy recovery. Get well soon.”
And Manchester City’s official account wrote: “Sending our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Iker Casillas.”
