From chewing nicotine gum to going completely cold turkey, there are a part of tactics that smokers can use if they’re to stop smoking.
According to the University of Pittsburgh, smelling pleasant odours, including chocolate, peppermint and apple, could help smokers to quit.
The researchers hope the findings could be used to develop more effective smoking-cessation strategies.
Dr Michael Savette, who led the study, said: “Despite disappointing relapse rates, there have been few new approaches to smoking cessation in general and to craving relief in particular.”
