Chelsea Manager, Maurizio Sarri, has been charged with misconduct after his dismissal from the touchline in the closing stages of Chelsea’s draw against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Sarri was sent off after daring from his technical area to dispute a decision by referee Kevin Friend.

He had been locked in various arguments throughout the game with the officials and the Burnley bench.

Chelsea lodged a complaint with Friend after the match, claiming Sarri had repeatedly been the target of a racial insult from staff on the Burnley bench who are alleged to have shouted ‘s*** Italian’.

Sarri has until 6pm on Friday to respond to the FA charge and is expected to face a fine if it is proved.
