Sacred tree cut, palace market shut in reverence of deceased Olowo of Owo

Days after the demise of the Olowo of Owo, Oba Folagbade Olagbegi, tradition is asserting itself in the ancient town in Ondo State.
A tree inside the palace has been trimmed to mark the departure while a market beside the palace has also been shut.
The market-men and women have moved to an open ground nearby where transactions now take place.
A chief of the town, Jamiu Ekungba, said the people’s culture also demanded that no burial could take place until any late Olowo had been buried.
Other aspects of the custom is that there should be no drumming in any part of the town, an order that is effective for 21 days, just like the one against the burial of any person.
