… to sign new deal

Belgium international and Manchester City’s defender Vincent Kompany says he is confident of signing a new contract as his team look to win the Premier League title for the second season in a row.
The 33-year-old captain will be out of contract by the end of the season and claims he enjoys facing the challenges in the Premier League and Champions League.
Kompany, who is in his 10th season at the Etihad Stadium, has been granted a testimonial match in September.
Telling talksport, Kompany says:
“Oh yeah, I’ll be playing next season. All the other speculation is not in place at the moment. I’m part of the family now, so we’ll deal with this situation as a family.
“We might agree or disagree but it won’t change any of the relationships between the club and me.But it’s not a priority right now, one guarantee is that I will be playing and trying to win more trophies.
“I enjoy facing the challenges in the Premier League and Champions League and I enjoy playing against and with players of such quality as well.
“When you get to the twilight of your career you enjoy it twice as much, and that’s what I’m doing.
“Behind the scenes I just keep grafting on and it allows me to be able to come into games and enjoy doing a job for the team. I’m really enjoying every minute.”
He has captained City since 2011 and he is one of the mos successful skippers in the club’s history, having led his side to winning three Premier League titles, three League Cups and an FA Cup.
He has made 19 appearances this season for City, starting 12 games.
