The Akure division of the Court of Appeal on Saturday upheld the eligibility of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in the Osun State Governorship election.
This came about four days after an Abuja court disqualified him over the status of his WAEC certificate.
The Appeal Court, however, gave him a clean bill of health on three major points.
The first ground is that the court that earlier upturned the decision of the Osogbo High Court, which okayed Adeleke, has no jurisdiction to hear the case.
The second is that the sponsored petitioner; one Kingsley Awosiyan from Ife Central, has no locus standi to file the case.
The third reason bordered on the fact that the matter was brought to court outside the stipulated 14 days after the conduct of the governorship primary election.
