The police on Monday arraigned two men for allegedly using an unregistered vehicle with the colours and symbol of the All Progress Congress Party (APC) during vote collation in an Iyaganku Senior Magistrates’ Court.
The police charged Ibrahim Adeleke, 30, and Quadri Lateef , 42, with two counts of conspiracy and unlawful use of unregistered vehicle.
The Police Counsel, Sgt. Kola Olaiya, told the court that the defendants conspired and committed the offence.
Olaiya said, the defendants on Feb.24, at about 4 a.m., allegedly used an unregistered Hummer Jeep with the colour and symbol of APC at collation centre.
The defendants, he alleged, used the said vehicle at ward 9, collation centre at St. Andrew Primary School, Omi- Adio. Ibadan.
Olaiya said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 516 ,of the Criminal Code and Section 129 (h) of the Electoral Act., 2010.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Defence Counsel Mrs Ademubowale Adelabu prayed the court to admit her clients to bail in the most Liberal terms.
In a ruing, Senior Magistrate, Mrs Patricia Adetuyibi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties in like sum each.
Adetuyibi ordered that one of the sureties must be a District head of Omi – Adio, while the second surety must be one of the Executive Officers of Omi – Adio’ s Elders forum.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case until May 13 , for mention. (NAN)
