Low voters turnout in the Federal Capital Territory has unsettled food vendors asthey are experiencing poor patronage.
Across section of vendors who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria in Karu Area Council expressed sadness over the development.
Mrs Maureen Joseph, who sells snacks and bottle drinks, said she was unhappy with the development.
She said she was motivated by the large turnout during the Presidential and National Assembly election on Feb. 23.
“I am not happy that I have not been able to record a lot of sales, unlike in the last election.
“As of this time on Feb. 23, I had ordered more drinks but as I speak to you I have not sold up to half of what I sold in the last election,’’ she said.
Joseph said the low turnout could be attributed to voter apathy.
Mrs Rebecca Eze, who sells packaged food, corroborated the claim, saying she had incurred loss due to her inability to record much sales.
“I went out of my way to get some items on credit so I ccould meet up with the expected high demand during the election.
“But it is sad that many people failed to come out.
“I might end up dishing out the food to beggars at the end of the day,” Eze said.
Mr Sule Abba, a sachet water seller, said he was able to sell only two bags as against the last elections day when he sold close to seven bags.
