A lot of things are happening fast in the labour sector in Ogun State as the state government and the Nigerian Labour Congress held a major meeting today.
After much pressure from labour, the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has agreed to pay a segment of workers whose salaries have been held for long.
Among them are the staff of the Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu, some of whom are said to be owed up to eight years’ salaries.
After the meeting where some of the workers threw oral tantrum at the governor, he also recalled the leader of the union in the state, Akeem Ambali, who his government who was sacked over a year ago.
NLC National President, Ayuba Wabba, said all issues raised by the NLC regarding workers’ welfare had been resolved.
The meeting held five days to the governorship and House of Assembly elections, on which labour had earlier threatened actions contrary to Amosun’s wish.
