There is fear of reprisal in the Obonoma community, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, as gunmen have killed two soldiers there.

Another account said the number of soldiers killed was three.

The gunmen, who were said to be in military uniform, reportedly invaded the Samson Jack military checkpoint in the community on Saturdaynight and opened fire on the soldiers.

The Amananyabo of Abonnema, King Disrael Bob-Manuel, was, however, reported as saying such an action could not have been carried out by his people, whom he described as peace-loving and not capable of attacking soldiers.
