The Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson’s photographer, Reginald Dei, who was shot during the presidential election, has eventually given up the ghost.
Dei was initially reported to have died immediately he was shot.
But the story changed positively when it was later reported that he survived and was responding to treatment in the hospital he was taken to.
But information from the bay elsa government this early morning of Monday indicates that Dei has eventually passed.
Special Adviser to the governor on Media, Fidelis Soriwei, indicated
this in a Facebook tribute to the deceased:
‘”Reginald Dei! Government House Photographer! Willing and ready to confront any task! it is unbelievable but it is true! This cut is deep, the pain fresh, the loss really heavy. What a price we have to pay for extreme barbarism and the penchant for violence in our society.
“You were determined to assert yourself in your chosen career as a trained manipulator of the lens but all that has been cut short. Gunned down by men in Army uniform at the residence of a friend, Seidougha Taribi who was also killed at Oweikorogha, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area on Election Day.
“Even as we mourn, the guns are booming in Nembe Bassambiri. Only God knows how many people will be killed before morning. Those who have a responsibility to protect and secure society are looking the other way. At the last count, the police in Bassambiri have been sacked, so are the NSCDC operatives. Is this an election we are preparing for or it is a war? Is there anything we are not seeing? What a society!
