As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) training organised for members of the National Youths Corps Members continued on Saturday, the facilitators have advised ‘corpers’ who will participate in the conduct of the coming polls to treat issues of possible underage voters with care.

According to Idowu V.A, one of the facilitators of the INEC training held in Owode, Ogun State, they must first realise that that a voter looks smallish may not necessarily mean that he or she is underage.

He noted that where it was glaring or established that a voter was underage, they should gently ask him to step aside as doing so with iron hand might lead to a crisis in the centre.

He explained that some politicians who felt they were losing at such a centre might deliberately push an underage voter forward and forment  troube, towards halting the process in the centre, once the underaged was stopped.

Idowu, however, advised the corps members to make the upcoming election free, fair and credible.

The train also focused on how to handle the electronic device – PVC , which was first used for Nigeria’s presidential election held on March 28, 2015.

The training started at 9am on Saturday and ended at 4:57pm, with an hour’s break in the afternoon.
