Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has paid a huge price for defecting to the Al Progressives Congress.
The former stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party suffered a home defeat in Saturday’s poll as he has lost his reelection bid.
InIkot Ekpene Senatorial District, he secured 67, 487 as against 136, 373 votes for Chris Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
In the past, Akpabio’s word was magic in the state but with the defection, it seems he has lost the magic tough.
Besides, he has entered the club of godfathers defeated by their estranged godsons as the current Governor Emmanuel Udom was installed by him but turned his bitter rival after he (Akpabio) the APC.
