The much awaited result of the presidential election in Kano State has been announced by the Independent Electoral Commission, with the All Progressives Congress candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, carrying on his head a ‘token’ of 1, 073, 175m.votes
According to the Collation Officer for Kano State, Prof. Magaji Garba, who is the vice-chancellor, Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State, the APC candidates polled the amount from the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
Garba noted that he scored 1, 464, 768m, to defeat the PDP candidate, who garnered 391,593 votes.
The VC explained that the total votes cast during the election on Saturday was 1,964,751m, while the total valid votes stood at 1.891,134m, just as the total rejected votes is 73,617.
With the result, analysts will say that the coffins of the ambition of Buhari’s opponents may finally have been nailed.
Interestingly, he has also won his home state, Katsina, with 1.23m votes.
