The National Youths Service Corps, Ogun State, has disowned a report indicating that each corps member engaged for the coming elections will get N35,000 each.
The report that emanated from the News Agency of Nigeria had indicated that for participating in the exercise on Saturday and the one after, each ‘corper’ would be paid the amount.
In a message the Ogun State NYSC sent to the whatshap group of corps members in the state, the authorities note, “The attention of NYSC Ogun State has been drawn to an erroneous report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoting the state coordinator, Mrs J. U Bakare, as informing corps members during an INEC sensitisation programme today 13th February 2019 in Abeokuta that allowance for their INEC ad-hoc duty is 35,000 naira for both elections.
“For the avoidance of doubt the State coordinator never made any mention of allowance during her welcome address at the programme.
According to the INEC Officer, Mr Olawale Olatunji, who spoke at the event, “Corps members will be paid a total #13,000 per election.”
However, the news reporter has been contacted and efforts are on-going to correct the erroneous report in circulation.”
Meanwhile, phenomenal.com gathered that some corps members have been asking if the N26,000 that the amounts for the two Saturdays come to includes the training allowance they were initially promised.
