Succour seems to be coming the way of members of the National Youths Service Corps who are assisting the Independent Electoral Commission in the conduct of the 2019 elections.

Many of them had it rough between Saturday and Sunday as they got stranded due to poor preparation on the part of INEC.

This sparked outrage from the public while some of the NYSC members threatened to boycott the rescheduled polls.

Phenomenalagos.com, however, authoritatively gathered that INEC has begun to pay the ‘corpers’ allowances for the training it earlier conducted and for the inconvenience associated with the exercise.

It was gathered that while those serving in Abuja got N9,000, those in Kogi received N8,500.

Those in Lagos said they were paid N4,500 on Saturday, with the understanding that they would get the second part later.

In Ogun State, it was gathered that the youth corps members are receiving N4,500 today, in an arrangement similar to the Lagos’.

One of those serving in Abuja, who spoke to phenomenal.com.ng on condition of anonymity, noted that the officials had promised to make mattresses available for them, for nights they will spend where they will spend outside their places of primary assignment.
