A presenter with TVC, Lagos, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has sparked controversy by saying that, due to the fear of possible molestation, she cannot allow her husband to bathe her daughter.
Many men do not agree with her on this and are giving their experiences in online reactions.
During a programme where Morayo and her colleagues discussed relationship between father and daughter in the context of rape, she noted that she made the assertion not because she did not trust her husband.
TVC tweeted her submission thus, “I absolutely trust my husband but I won’t take chances and have him bathe my daughter because whether we like it or not, there is something flying in the air these days that is encouraging imbalance and immoralities. I actually trust my husband but I’m just being careful because people that have experienced this kind of situation also trusted their husbands yet it happened.”
In various reactions, some men noted that they had successfully bathed their daughters at different times while others asked what would happen if the wife is not a home.
Besides, although some people gave kudos to Morayo, others challenged her that it is not only women who have authority over who does what.
One of the rebels even reminded her that women too bathe sons.
