Amosun okays deflection of 26 associates from APC

The handwriting on the wall for the ruling All Progressives Party in Ogun State should scare its leaders at the national level as aggrieved members seem inappeasable more than ever before.
The latest drama is that 26 members who contested the last legislative primary on the APC platform in the state have dumped it for the Allied Peoples Movement following disagreements over the conduct and result of the poll.
Earlier, other top members loyal to Governor Ibikunle Amosun had done the same thing, including Mr. Adekunle Akinlade, whom the Amosun camp believes was robbed of victory during the governorship primary – by the Abuja APC.
With the gale raging in the state, many observers believe that the governor’s departure may well be a matter of time.
According to reports, the defectors spoke through their spokesperson, Lamidi Olatunji saying they took the decision to dump APC for APM’ after they had made wide consultations with elders and leaders.
Amosun has, however, said that he will remain in the APC to contest the senatorial election in 2019 while ensuring the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He, however, said aggrieved party members who defected to the Allied People’s Movement have his blessings.
