Producer of ‘Moremi the Musical’, Bolanle Austen-Peters, has said that he project is unique in different ways – compared to her earlier musicals such as ‘Saro’ and ‘Wakaa’.
According to her, all the songs featured in ‘Moremi the Musical’, which dramatises the story of Ife legend, Moremi, are original.
“We are not borrowing any song from anywhere this time, All the songs are freshly composed and we believe that is very interesting,” she says.
She adds that another unique thing about the play is that all costumes used are Yoruba, giving the team an opportunity to explore the fashion legacy of the people.
Stars that include Bimbo Manuels, Femi Branch and Kehinde Bankole play prominent roles in the musical.
A lawyer-turned an art entrepreneur and now a producer, Austen-Peters, who is the MD/CEO of Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, is synonymous with the expansion of musical plays in Nigeria, having successfully staged about three, including ‘Fela’.
