US-based poet laureate, Prof. Niyi Osundare, has celebrated Lagos in his new collection of poems, Only if the Road could Talk. In the poem titled Eko, he situates Lagos as a land of opportunity and challenges. In the book with titles such as Feathered Heels Feathered Heels, Accra, Pacific, Lightwards, Malaysian Moments and Korean Songs) and London, Osundare writes, “The Sea is Lagos ;Lagos is the Sea/ blue eternity of billowing banters/ thronged expanse with a rainbow/ too wide for narrow skies.
